DESCRIPTION:This is a three day course June 19th ,20th and 21st 2026, from 9:00am to 5:30pm. Located at the The Paul Center 39 Concord Rd, Chelmsford, MA 01824.\nMake sure this is the right class for you.  ( NO REFUNDS ONCE YOU SIGN UP )\nWHO SHOULD TAKE THIS COURSE?\nInstructor candidates may include, but are not limited to, lifeguards, head lifeguards, aquatic facility managers, camp counselors, swim team coaches, competitive swimmers, teachers and youth leaders. Instructor candidates may represent a broad range of backgrounds. They may differ in levels of education and experience. They may be taking an instructor training course to fulfill employment requirements, to complete requirements for a major area of study or certification, for professional growth or for personal satisfaction.\nWater Safety Instructor (WSI). The American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor course is to train instructor candidates to teach swimming courses, community water safety and outreach presentations. The American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety program helps develop ones understanding of how to use the course materials, how to conduct training sessions and how to evaluate participants’ progress\nPREREQUISITES\nTo participate in the Water Safety Instructor course, individuals must:\n1. Be at least 16 years of age on or before the final scheduled lesson of this course.\n2. Demonstrate the ability to perform the following swimming strokes consistent with the American Red Cross Stroke Performance Charts, Level 4.\n\nFront crawl—25 yards\nBack crawl—25 yards\nBreaststroke—25 yards\nElementary backstroke—25 yards\nSidestroke—25 yards\nButterfly—15 yards\n\n3. Maintain position on back for 1 minute in deep water (floating or sculling).\n4. Tread water for 1 minute.\nWe teach a blended learning course format with online education, classroom and in-water components. The Blended Learning Water Safety Instructor class offer more hands-on training while instructor candidates complete much of the content online before and throughout the course. American Red Cross requires online content to be completed up though round 6 by prior to the first day of class and all completed through round 9 on the second day of class.\nOn successful completion of an instructor course, instructor candidates will receive a course completion certificate indicating Water Safety Instructor course.\n \n \n
