WHO SHOULD TAKE THIS COURSE?
This lifeguard instructor course is tailored for organizations like municipalities, schools, and summer camps that want the flexibility to conduct training at their own facilities. It is particularly valuable for agencies needing to train or recertify lifeguards annually to staff community pools and recreational venues. By completing this program, instructors gain the versatile ability to certify staff in CPR/AED, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogens, while also taking on the responsibility of conducting and leading essential in-service training to ensure ongoing safety compliance.
The American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor course prepares candidates to lead basic-level certification programs by mastering course materials, session management, and candidate evaluation. To qualify, participants must be at least 17 years old and hold current Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED certifications. The process requires completing a 2-hour online module before the first day, attending all sessions, and passing both a practical skills assessment and a written exam with a minimum score of 80 percent. Once certified, instructors are eligible to teach a wide variety of additional safety courses.
